Arranged Employment is not a separate category of Canadian immigration. Rather it is one of the six factors that make up the selection criteria under the Skilled Worker category of Canadian immigration. Up to 10 points are awarded under the Arranged Employment Factor if Permanent job offer from a Canadian employer is approved by Service Canada and an additional 5 pts will be award under the adaptability factor.

To qualify, a Skilled Worker applicant must attain a bona fide job offer that is approved by Services Canada. This approval is referred to as an Arranged Employment Opinion (AEO). Service Canada will forward the AEO directly to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada where all Skilled Workers applications will be processed as of October 2008. Canadian immigration policy requires that CPC give priority to applications with Arranged Employment Opinions. In most cases the Permanent Resident application will be processed in less than one year. Individuals already in Canada on certain types of Canadian work permits may benefit from Arranged Employment simply by having their Canadian employer extend a permanent Canadian job offer to them. An AEO from SC is not required. Only skilled jobs in management, professional and technical fields qualify. (NOC levels O, A and B)
